Great News!!

Starting today, emails containing Shadowrun Returns Steam keys are going out to all Backers and HBS website Pre-order customers. This will help ensure that everyone has their keys in time for the launch on July 25.

Please note that the keys will not unlock the game until it is released on July 25th.Once we flip the switch, you’ll be able to begin the download from Steam and play the game when it completes. More specifics on loading your Steam key will be included in the email we send you.

Also on July 25, your DRM-free version of the game and the digital rewards for your pledge level will be available via your HBS Account. Go to to download them on launch day.

As a reminder, your physical rewards will begin shipping in the first week of August. Delivery dates are determined by geographic location.

We thank you for your patience in advance! It is likely to take a few days to get all the emails out, so please watch for the email, check your spam folder and, if you don’t receive yours within a few days, contact us at

PS: More YEAR OF SHADOWRUN goodness!

Our friends over at Catalyst Game Labs are now taking pre-orders for their Standard, Limited Edition and Deluxe “Mayan” Limited Edition of Shadowrun, Fifth Edition. Go to for more information. Take a look – it’s big and it’s pretty!

Please announce when you have finished sending out keys. A previous email announcing preorder info didn’t arrive at my email address either. Feels like I should have the key by now.

Any specifics on the Android release? Is it alongside PC? How much does it cost? Etc.

I have SRR in my Steam library. My code worked perfectly. I haven’t downloaded the game, it just allows you to have the game title in your library ready for download on the 25th. I’m only saying this in case there is some kind of problem later. Best of luck, chummers!

Thanks for the rapid response. Let me stress to everyone how great HBS is in getting personal contact and service to those with questions. Get the word out people. Tell your friends about this great game. Do it now because in a week we will all be to busy running.

    Adios, social life!

The best part of it is that my notebook will handle this just fine! Games in bed FTW!

This might seem like a silly question, but since I bought SRR through Steam, am I going to be waiting on a code or do I already “have” the game? It shows up in my library, but greyed out.

Woha, that’s cool, I got three keys… and I didn’t even remember I was entitled to three. Anyway I found grateful owners already!

Can’t wait for my physical rewards to arrive (the Doc Wagon card will look nice besides my Citizen Card). And the DRM-free versions becoming available for download. Will the free (for backers that is) add-on/campaign be a different key, we’ll receive at a later time? Or „just“ available as a DRM-free download? (Not complaining either way!). Also: if we use the “special item unlock code” in the Steam version, can we use that with our DRM-free version too (or vice versa)? Or is it a true one-time only key?

MechaTrav – You already have the game and don’t need a Steam key.

Curan – You’ll be able to use the code for the DRM-free version, too.

      Thanks for the quick reply!

But I had another question hidden in there (yeah, I know, were quite a few): Will the free (for backers that is) add-on/campaign be a different key, we’ll receive at a later time? Or „just“ available as a DRM-free download? (Not complaining either way!)

Robin – is the special item unlock code only available when the game is unlocked on July 25, or can I use it now (e.g. for the “Shadowrun Identity – Life on a limb” module? I tried entering the code now but it gives no response…

Gayonne – My educated guess is that the Backer code is tied to the Seattle campaign only and will have no affect on anything other than that campaign.

Thanks Robin. I would have thought that as a Backer, the in-game doc wagon would follow me into whatever campaign / module that’s made for the game and not just for a specific campaign / module…

Could you please send out an email to the pre-order customers letting us know what happens on launch day (today)?
