Hey Everyone!
As Jordan mentioned in his Developer’s Diary last Friday, we have some exciting stuff coming in the next couple of weeks and the team has been hard at work to deliver.
“What sort of exciting stuff”, you ask?
How about a look at Shadowrun Returns in action!!!
On Sunday, March 10th at South By Southwest in Austin, TX, Jordan and I will do a LIVE DEMO of Shadowrun Returns and take questions from the audience. Also in attendance will be our Guest of Honor, Erik Dahlman, one of our $10,000 Backers (and resident of Austin).
SXSW is another great opportunity to get some press for the game and help get the word out. But don’t worry, you won’t need to attend the show to see the game in action! We’re releasing a VIDEO WALKTHROUGH of Shadowrun Returns gameplay, narrated by Jordan and me, the Friday before the show. We’ll release our first set of REAL SCREENSHOTS, too.
And don’t forget, we’ll be at Seattle’s Emerald City Comic Con tomorrow, March 2, talking about the game, answering questions, and doing the dwarf dance as little as possible. We’ll be in the Gaming Room at 12pm. Hope you can join us!
To whet your appetite for all that, here are some characters you’ll see in action next week.
And here’s some concept art from the Seattle campaign.
And finally, here’s a pic of the studio so you can see the team doing their thing.
Time to get back to work!
Mitch

WHOOHOOO!!! While I’m still not a fan of the snaggle-toothed trolls, the artwork and models look AWESOME! That elf is something else!! Can’t wait ‘ta see what you chummers have to show us next!! ^_^
Sexay!
And where do I sign up for beta again?
Awesome! I wanna bribe someone for a backer (me) to get a personal tour of the facilities!
Jake Armitage and The Morgue…I love you
Great to see Jake Armitage in there! I’ve still got him in SNES cartridge format in the draw to my right.
SNES Shadowrun = best. game. ever.
Thanks for bringing it back again!
…that tenement concept art is a gorgeous piece of run-down grunge. Love the couch & coloring, and intricacy and lighting of the “kitchenette.” I’d be very tempted to frame and hang it. ^_^
GREAT…can’t wait to see Shadowrun in action the 2nd time
is any release date in progress?
I THOUGHT that smarmy-looking bastard seemed familiar. Been too long since I actually played the SNES game. Is Jakey-boy gonna be part of the game or just a cameo for old time’s sake? For that matter, no Joshua love?
Hoi Tim!
There’s supposed to be something akin to a crossover mission tying the old SNES and Sega Genesis games together/in to Shadowrun Returns. I don’t know what Harebrained Scheme HBS has planned to do that but we’re likely to see Joshua too ^_^
Ja Mata!

As usual I love it. Amazing art work that keeps getting better. I cant wait to see the Cosmetic Customization thrown on top of those base styles.
In the Troll pic, is that a Human Shaman drawn behind the 3D troll Character model?
If so, love the look of that human( Cool brown skin tone and blad head), I want my Street Samurai too look just like that.
Does HBS have anything planned for PAX East?
This is exactly why I backed this project. Thank you so much.
I agree with RC on the Troll look. The Elf looks – as announced – very elvish. The look and feel of the environments is incredible.
Please don’t forget us European backers and try to make to gamesCom.
Guys I can’t explain how excited I’m about that game!!! You ROCK, can’t wait to see the first videos! Greets from Germany
YEEEAAHH !!
That’s some awesome artwork you provided their Mitch !!
RC I agree with you on the troll teeth, I’m not a fan of it.
Anyway, I love the tenements and the dark ambiance of the port.
Keep up the good work guyz !
I really like that the Elf reminds me of the personal bodyguards of Lady Lucretia in Predator Concrete Jungle ^_^ The Ronins. So many plus for making the Elf look scary. I’m excited for this <3
That gasmask is DOPE! Gotta love gasmasks…
I gotta say “urgh” to those troll “tusk” again, too. I’d love you for including an option: “Only classic Shadowrun Ork & Troll tusks? Yes/No” … I just cant stand the wrongness of those teeths. xD
I know Jordan likes em… but dang, we are accustomed to 20 years of proper tusks.
Ill love to see the video and I really like it, that you didnt announce it a month before- a shorter wait is a sweater wait.
Wow!! I love the samurai elf design.
I can’t wait to see the first gameplay video!!
Oh my god Oh my god Oh my god Oh my god
I need MORE
This looks just awesome. Can’t wait to see more!
I wonder how many more times the “tusk” issue will be brought up before it actually gets addressed/fixed? Oh wait, I forgot….it’s only a minority that’s complaining, right?
That aside, the rest looks decidedly fabulous. My excitement level is steadily building!!!
Kudos and keep up the good work (and updates!)
[...puts a fresh melon cap on Madcat.] ^_^
Call me crazy but I think in a Q&A video, Jordan and Mitch strongly hinted that you would be able to change/customize the orcs/trolls. His quote was basically don’t worry, I like mine and you’ll like yours, lets leave it at that.
So I doubt you toothers have too much to worry about.
Jake Armitage was a shaman, now a mage. Is that going to be addressed in some way?
Yeah, I wondered about that too. I’m hoping it’s a feature, not a bug….
I have a question to the gameplay vid on youtube: Are there no ‘interruptions’ in the fighting mode?? In the vid your just walking through, running around corners killing everybody. If you would do so in a real tactical turnbased shooter like JA2 you’d be interrupted by the waiting guards. Same for the real Shadowrun pen&paper: I was gamemaster long time and no runner would have dared blindly storming around corners in a room full of enemies cause he’d get killed. Interruptions are what gives turn-based fighting games tactical depth no matter if on screen or paper. Otherwise its just running around killing. Keep up the good work guys, counting on you to make the game I missed for years…
I played a lot of Shadowrun when i was a child in Snes, the best RPG futurist ever…and see this comming back will be very nice.
I also made a post on my blog about this game:
http://www.jedimasterhouse.com/2013/03/shadowrun-returns-volta-do-classico-rpg.html
Very nice see this universe come back to games.
Game Trailer’s first look was sickening
Very very nice demo, i like a lot. But the team must consider speed up a litle the animation of shotgun pellets, and the spells. I know its just a demo, but anyways just tryng to help.
Stay on this direction, money and game prizes will fly to your team. good job.
Just watched the game walkthough, looking great. I am so looking forward to getting to play this game. To be honest I am looking forward to this game more than any other “main stream” (if that is the right word) game scheduled from any other “big” software houses. If this plays like I think it will you are going to have game of the year potential.
As a GM for Shadowrun at the moment I am excited by the idea of turning my own self written adventures into levels for my players (who I have instructed as firmly as a GM can to pre-order this game) to run through. Will the intention be to have a social networking site set up to allow budding GMs and adventure writters to exchange levels etc?
Hi, Rafyn – The intention is definitely to allow UGC to be shared with everyone. We’re excited to see what the community creates with the editor – that’s one of the reasons we’re giving everyone access to it!
We’re still working on the details of exactly how that’s going to work but we should have an answer soon,
Thats cool Robin, thanks for the update, and as always – shoot straight, conserve ammo, and never deal with a dragon.
hey, what’s the matrix looking like?
I, uh, you know, fantasize about being a struggling decker.
PS can I just go ahead and download a copy..? are you still working on it, or just waiting, at this point, for the kids to get out of school? I’m professionally all caught up…
amongst other things
I have a fantasy to realize
